Bromans rustika danser
- Thursday 14 May
- 19.00 - 20.30
- Universitetsallén 24, SE-852 34 Sundsvall, Sverige
In the last concert of the spring with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Malin Broman puts theme of dance in the center. Under the headline Broman’s rustic dances, she explores how rhythm and movement have shaped the expression of classical music – from popular dances to art musical interpretations.
One of the concert’s hubs is Antonín Dvoikak’s vibrant Slavian dances, where he converts Central European folk dances into colorful and powerful orchestra music. Throughout the program, music is highlighted that bears traces of people’s common rhythms – whales, polar shoes, ring dances – dances that in their simplicity and energy have become the building blocks of the classic heritage.
Malin Broman describes her relationship with the theme as personal and closest to philosophical: she sees all the music running from two original sources – dance and storytelling. It is in the movement and rhetoric that the music gains its form, its power and its ability to touch.
With Broman’s rustic dances, the spring season ends with a program that both celebrates the popular and shows how the spirit of dance continues to give life to music.
