JOIN IN THE JOY
We offer joy, excitement, drama, and a place in the spotlight for those who may not always get the recognition they deserve. The music competition is a music contest where one can raise their fist in the spotlight and be proud of exactly who they are!
ABOUT THE MUSIC COMPETITION
The music competition is Sweden's major music festival for and by musicians with disabilities. A musical community where everyone can contribute in their own way. On stage, bands and solo artists perform with their own material or covers. Welcome to a joy-filled, sparkling show where the stage presence and musical joy surpasses everything else!
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS
The music competition is the melody festival for people with intellectual and neuropsychiatric disabilities, NPF. The music competition has eight qualifying rounds and a big sparkling national final in Sundsvall every year. One entry wins each qualifying round and one in the final. All other entries that participate come in second place and receive beautiful diplomas based on their special talent on stage. The most important thing in the music competition is to have fun and develop together!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
You can apply as a band or solo artist. With original material or covers. The artists completely decide how they want to create their performance. Everyone who wants to help out does so to the best of their ability to create the artists' dream on stage. Bilda is involved and supports with our professional development coordinators. We also have technical equipment in the form of sound, light, and backline on site for the qualifying rounds. Let us know if you want to help with something at a qualifying round.
Deadline for registration is March 31 each year.
QUALIFYING ROUNDS
During the spring, we have eight qualifying rounds, from north to south in Sweden. The winners of each qualifying round are selected by a jury, according to the same criteria that apply in the final. The winners of each qualifying round go straight to the national final.

At the national final in Sundsvall, Maitraiders musikservice (daily activity under LSS) is involved and works with the entire final together with Studieförbundet Bilda. The artists receive the best conditions to perform their entries on stage, just as they wish. All artists will also receive help with makeup and hair styling from a makeup artist/stylist if they wish.
