GARMARNA
Garmarna has been going its own way for over 30 years. With roots in medieval Nordic ballads, they have created a completely unique expression where tradition meets modernity without compromise. When the band started in Sundsvall in the early 90s, there was hardly any room for this type of music. Today, the landscape is different, but Garmarna remains – as a natural reference point in everything that is called Nordic, medieval, or folk rock.
The music moves freely between then and now: ancient melodies, electronic elements, heavy rhythms, and Emma Härdelin's characteristic voice create a sound that is both raw and beautiful – and unmistakably unique.
Since their start in 1991, the band has toured around the world and performed on stages such as Sziget Festival, SXSW, and Roskilde Festival. They have been nominated for Grammis several times and won the award for Folk Music of the Year with the album Guds spelemän.
Garmarna is not a nostalgia project. They are a band that continues to explore, challenge, and develop their expression – on their own terms.
