PASCAL
Pascal is celebrating 20 years as a band – and it shows. Not in the form of retrospectives or nostalgia, but in a self-evident way of expression. A raw, uncompromising energy that can only come from two decades of doing exactly their own thing.
There is something elusive about Pascal. A dark, almost claustrophobic undertone – but always with a playfulness that grates and lifts at the same time. The music moves somewhere between Joy Division's darkness, bob hund's nerve, and The Cramps' derailed garage aesthetic. But the comparisons really don’t suffice – Pascal is Pascal.
Since their debut Förbi fabriken in 2006, they have churned out their noisy, desperate rock with an intensity that feels more like a survival instinct than music creation. It is the frustration, anger, and restlessness that drives – but also something else. A melancholy, a humor, and somewhere beneath: a strange sort of hope.
Live, it is physical. Almost violent. The instruments are handled more as tools for release than for precision, and the songs drill into the body like a virus. It is loud, sweaty, and completely impossible to shield oneself against. Pascal has never been a band that does things “just right.” And that’s probably for the best.
ROMANTIKPANIK
Romantikpanik is one of the newer names on Östersund's music scene. After the members played together in various constellations over the past few years, they were finally gathered under one name in the spring of 2025. The music, according to the band themselves, is best described as indie/alternative rock with a fearless approach to genre and style mixing. Depression and teenage angst are interspersed with big dreams shaped by nostalgic guitar melodies, thundering drums, and impactful bass lines.
