Join us on a bus trip when one of the opera world's most iconic heroines boards the bus – seconds before she falls head over heels for Alfredo? The bus journey takes us around Sundsvall municipality while the performance unfolds.
As the travelers settle in, she steps on – Violetta from Verdi's La Traviata. She is gravely ill and struck by great love. As familiar places pass by the bus window, she sings out her pain and longing. Inside her rages desire, fear, and the hope of being able to love – even if just for a short while.
The opera platform SAD GIRLS, in collaboration with Riksteatern, creates a contemporary interpretation inspired by Verdi's opera, where immortal melodies intertwine with synthesizers and newly composed music. The text and direction are by Sanna Strandberg Colling, and composer Joel Janson Johansen allows Verdi's immortal melodies to meet an electrically pulsating soundscape.
During the journey, we meet Violetta and Alfredo with a musician. A close, intense opera experience – right in the midst of everyday life.
