Nature reserve in Sundsvall
Långören
From the county border in the south, up to just south of Galtström, this unexploited and lobed land elevation coast extends. There are shallow wave-protected bays between exposed stretches of beach. From the parking lot, it is easy to get down to the wind shelter and the polished rocks by the sea.

Stornäset
Stornäset Nature Reserve on Alnön is located on a headland out into the sea. There are large beach meadows that attract many birdwatchers. You can watch from both hides and lookout towers. The reserve has accessibility facilities, rest areas and hiking trails. The fine sandy beaches are popular for sunbathing and swimming in summer. A perfect place for the whole family.

Navar River
The Navarån river is home to one of Sweden's most protected populations of the endangered river pearl mussel. From the wooden deck in the middle of the reserve, you can see the mussels clearly in the half-meter deep water. Popular for both young and old.

Sundsjöåsen
On a steep slope towards the Indalsälven River, the reserve extends all the way up to the peaks of the plateau above. The height difference is a full 430 meters. Here you can hike in natural forest that is several 100 years old and visit the Nilsbölebodarna stables. The cabin, which is open to all visitors, is a perfect excursion destination. In winter you can park down by the plowed road. But with skis or snowshoes you can reach the reserve relatively quickly.

Nature reserve in Timrå
Åstön
Out on scenic Åstön there is something for everyone. The old military roads lead you around the area. They are excellent for cycling but are also great for walking, especially for those with strollers or for other reasons do not want to walk on uneven surfaces. You will pass many places with nice views out over the sea. Around the reserve there are several rest areas with fireplaces.

Mjällådalen valley
Through the beautiful and hilly Mjällådalen valley, the Mjällån river flows like a winding snake. There are several miles of hiking trails, many picnic areas and a couple of shelters for overnight stays. In the northern part, the reserve borders another popular nature reserve, Västanåfallet.

Korstjärnsmyran
The area is so high that there are opportunities for a ski trip both winter and spring. Especially in spring, when the sun is shining and the snow is falling, it is magical to ski around here.
Rankleven's steep north face is a well-known profile in the Ljungan valley. The 350 meter high mountain stands out for its fantastic view from the top, where both wind shelter and fireplace are located.
There are great opportunities for outdoor activities here. You can hike on over two miles of hiking trails. Rest or stay overnight in three different cabins. Several different barbecue areas and also accessibility adaptations. There are great opportunities for fishing.

The burning of hell
Despite its name, this is a real gem. If you're looking for peace and quiet and untouched nature, you should visit Helvetesbrännan. In this over 3,000-hectare roadless and fire-prone wilderness area, both bears and moose roam. Marked trails lead you to fish-rich lakes and beautiful views. Several cabins are open for overnight stays.
