KRISTOFFER BERGLUND
"The best thing about Sundsvall is definitely the mix between the big city feeling and the beautiful nature"
Kristoffer Berglund is an actor and director who became Sweden's youngest theater manager when he got the job at Teater Västernorrland. He grew up in Ångermanland but now lives in Sundsvall and despite his young age he has already made a strong impression on society.
What is the best thing about Destination Sundsvall?
- It is definitely the mix between the big city feeling and the enormously beautiful nature.
What is your favorite place to visit in Destination Sundsvall?
- I'm very fond of the sea, so I'm thinking of one of the beautiful beaches around Sundsvall, such as Bergafjärden.
Why did you choose to settle here?
- I got a job in Sundsvall, so we moved here. I was attracted by living in a city that has a wide range of entertainment and activities but is also close to everything.
If you want to eat like Kristoffer Berglund. Which restaurant in the destination do you choose and which dish should you choose from the menu?
- Then you book a table at Edvalls Guld with some friends. You order a bottle of cava and oysters for starters and a steak for the main course. For dessert, it's just something simple, a double espresso and maybe a chocolate bar.
Where do you go on a picnic and what stuff is in the basket?
- If it's a picnic, I go to Norra Berget and like to sit on the stone slabs below Restaurant Grankotten. In the picnic basket I have a good hearty salad and bread. But most importantly, a thermos of coffee.
What is the best viewpoint in the destination?
- Definitely Södra Berget. Take a trip up the slope during the snow-free months and look out over the whole town. It's an incredible view with both forest, sea and city. A bonus is that you get good exercise at the same time.
If you could set up any outdoor theater anywhere in the destination, which location would you choose and what show would be performed there?
- Wow, what an exciting question. Sundsvall has an incredible working-class history, with one of Sweden's first strikes in 1879. Since I have a big heart for musicals, we're putting on another revolutionary story set about 100 years earlier - Les Miserables - and the location will be at one of the old sawmill areas in Svartvik or on Alnö.
