Winter fishing
Pack a lunch and dress warmly for a day on the ice. Ice fishing is the easiest method of ice fishing if you are a beginner. Take a seat at your drilled hole and jerk or shake your rod. Pause occasionally and hold still. You'll be biting soon!
Try your luck fishing with the family in the popular Sidsjön lake in central Sundsvall. The ice is usually thick here during the winter and fishing is free. On the hook bites planted rainbow trout and char as well as perch and pike. There is also a restaurant, walking trails, slalom slopes and toboggan run nearby.
If you are ready for competition after some practice, several popular ice fishing competitions are organized during spring winter. On the first two weekends in March, the two biggest angling competitions are held in Ljungandalen, where hundreds of participants gather on lakes in Torp and compete to see which team can catch the most pike.
Tip: Sidsjön, Björköfjärden, Munkbysjön and Stora and Lilla Åstjärn are popular ice fishing spots in Destination Sundsvall. Keep in mind safety when you are on the ice and that you may need a fishing license to fish.
