Scenic hiking trails
Take a day on foot and soak up the tranquillity of nature. Whether you are an experienced hiker or a beginner, you can choose from both short and long trails of varying difficulty.
Botnialeden - 45.8 km
Start your hike from Södra Berget in Sundsvall and make your way out towards the coastal landscape, ending in the historic mill in Galtström. The Botnia Trail takes you along paths and dirt roads with plenty of beautiful nature, culture and local history to see. If you can't walk the whole trail, there are plenty of places where you can choose to connect to public transport instead.
Haveröleden - 132 km
Explore the beautiful nature in and around Ånge. Haveröleden is a pilgrimage trail under construction that will connect to the classic St. Olavsleden. There is plenty of variation in the terrain and much to see along the way.
Indalsälven delta - 3.3 km
At the far end of the smack ground in the scenic Indalsälven delta there is a short but cozy trail loop. Perfect if you want to take a short run in the undisturbed nature. Why not finish with a dip in the sea? Smackgrundet or "smacken" as it is called is a popular shallow beach.
Jämtgaveln round - 18.3 km
The largest nature reserve in Västernorrland. A hike around Jämtgaveln in Ånge gives you a sense of what the primeval forest of Norrland looked like before today's modern forestry. The large reserve has over two miles of trails, several overnight cabins, rest areas and more than 20 places with information. There are also traces of human activity over several centuries, such as shelters, loggers' huts and trapping pits.

Lögdö Wilderness - 50,000 ha of land with several trails of different lengths
Another fantastic natural area is Lögdö Vildmark External link, opens in new window.. This large nature reserve offers a variety of trails that take you through untouched wilderness with deep forests, clear lakes and rushing streams. One of the most popular trails here is the Lögdö Trail, which offers a varied hike through varied terrain. If you want to experience as much of the Lögdö wilderness as possible, we recommend the 13-kilometer Lögdö Wilderness Trail.
Mittnorden trail - 59 km
A slightly tougher trail with climbs. Perfect for the slightly more experienced hiker. Start your hike at Södra Berget in Sundsvall and make your way inwards through forests and lakes, through the beautiful Målstaallmänningen nature reserve and on to Stöde.
St. Olavsleden - 580 km
Discover the world's northernmost pilgrimage trail. Starting in Selånger outside Sundsvall, you can walk inland all the way to Trondheim in Norway. St. Olavsleden runs through forests, over mountains, along lakes, communities and historical sites. The surface is a mix of forest path, gravel road and asphalt.
